Over the last few months, we have been talking to families who use Roosterbank and looking at ways we can ensure kids save for the things they really want, while encouraging them to think about the value of those things.
We also wanted children to have the flexibility to save for experiences – so a holiday or their university fees if they want!
The +Add Tool
We have created a new tool in the Rooster Shop which allows kids to upload things to save for themselves. They can add photos, write a description and set an amount to save for.
Children can +Add anything, whether its a trip to the cinema, a new pair of trainers or saving targets for the future, like a university fund! They can choose to put these into their Saver Basket, a List (so if they like collecting things, they can break their things into
The Saving Wall
The Saving Wall is a new section to the Rooster Shop which allows children to share, recommend and save for items other users on Roosterbank have added. Children only see what other children have chosen to share and that have been checked by our editorial team to ensure they are suitable. You can check out the Saving Wall here >
The Roosterbank Saving Wall and +Add tool are designed to encourage children to understand that:
- Saving is good.
- It is important to save for things they really want.
- That it’s important to work out whether it’s worth saving for, or whether there is something else it would be better to save for.
We think that by getting children to add things and review and rate them, they will consider the value of things and whether they are worth spending their pocket money on them.
