Teaching kids to save should be FUN!
Teaching children to understand the benefits of saving are at the best of times a challenge, but even more so given that interest on savings are so low.
We think saving is exciting and should be rewarded. We also wanted to do something on Roosterbank that normal banks can’t do – make it fun! This is why we have created Roostie Interest. The more that children save in their Safe, the more Roostie Interest they get, which is paid in weekly. Kids can then save these Roosties up and redeem them for FREE stuff!
Roostie Interest is designed to give children a soft introduction into the concept of interest and teach them that saving brings rewards in the long-term. Used in conjunction with a real savings account, it can also be a great way for your kids to keep their savings ring-fenced.
What can children do with their Roostie Interest?
Children can then use the Roosties they earn to get virtual stuff in the Village and Farm game(clothes for their avatar, gifts for their mates, items for their farmhouse) or redeem them for prizes. Those prizes might be some collectable cards from Topps, a pocket money pack from Roosterbank or indeed asking us to donate something on their behalf to a charity. We have even sent chickens to Africa through Send a Cow – how ace is that?!
There are other ways to get bonus Roosties too.
As we are nice (very nice in fact) we also let children boost the number of Roosties they earn by playing educational games and encouraging them to take part in The RB, writing reviews on stuff they like and commenting on the latest posts – encouraging them to develop their reading and writing skills while thinking about getting the most value from their pocket money.
