Surprisingly, the most popular item on Roosterbank (even in winter months!) is not the XBox One or PlayStation 4, it is in fact the Chill Factor Squeeze Cup Slushy Maker. As you probably guessed, this must have toy cup promises to turn any drink into a slushy, but does it really work? And are they worth the money?
From Moshi Monster spaghetti hoops to twirly straws, kids love a little bit of excitement and novelty when it comes to food and drink. The Chill Factor Squeeze Cup certainly seems to fit into the novelty camp, but at the same time looks like it actually serves a purpose, especially with the claim ‘any drink can be turned to a slushy in under 1 minute’. Naturally, we had to see if this was true…
Does the Chill Factor Squeeze Cup actually work?
After relentless testing with a variety of liquids: Coca Cola, Orange juice, Lemonade we can confirm that these brightly coloured cups do indeed turn any drink into slush in less than 1 minute. All you have to do is put the cup in the freezer over night, pour in your liquid of choice (make sure it has been chilled) and continuously squeeze, watching as the liquid turns to slush.
Everyone in the office was actually quite impressed with this toy and after some research we found that Firebox sells an adult version – we wouldn’t want the kids having all the fun now would we?
Is it worth the money?
At first glance the £11.49 ($15.00) for one cup price tag seems a little steep considering that you are getting a fancy cup and not much more, however the item does really work very well. In addition, the cup may even save you money in the long run; a slushy in the Chill Factor Squeeze Cup can be made with fresh juice for under 50p, making it a much cheaper and healthier treat than an ice lolly or chocolate bar.
Be Warned: We have come across a few online sellers offering special ‘slushy syrups’ for around the £10 mark. These are simply a waste of money as the cup is designed to turn any drink into a slushy so ‘special syrups’ are not necessary.
The reviews for the Chill Factor Squeeze Cup on Amazon and Argos have been positive, and no matter the time of year children seem to love drinking slushies. The cups get the thumbs up from the Roosterbank team and the release of a new Ice Cream Making Cup adds to the excitement for young ones – they better get saving their pocket money!
